Web site Design and development - how the process works
The design process begins with the identification of goals and objectives of the web site including an analysis of its target audience. Next, a design proposal and recommended site structure are presented, and once finalized, construction of the individual components of the site begins. During the construction process, the site is loaded on the Idesignworks server for viewing and approval of the various phases and preliminary testing. Once the site is fully constructed and preliminary testing is complete, the site is uploaded to the client's server where final testing is completed, and the site is launched.
While Idesignworks does not offer web site hosting, included in the service is the procurement of a domain name and web hosting agreement if they have not already been obtained. We will also facilitate the process of domain/hosting transfer if necessary. Fees for hosting services and domain registration are paid directly to the DNS/hosting company. Hosting and domain registration have evolved into more of a commodity service, and as such we believe the cost for these services should reflect the current market environment. Web site Maintenance
Idesignworks provides ongoing maintenance services for web sites we have developed. Fees for these services are determined according to a package plan, or on an agreed upon hourly fee basis.
Maintenance vs. Modification - Maintenance includes the updating of time sensitive content which does not involve modification to the design or substantial content addition. Ongoing site maintenance can be performed on a regular or on an as needed basis, and is billed on a structured (package) or as needed basis. Modification includes content addition or design changes that are not typically performed on any regular basis. Fees for modification are negotiated at the time of modification, and are determined on either an hourly or package basis.
Search Engine Optimization
All web sites developed by Idesignworks incorporate basic SEO strategies, i.e. the construction of search engine friendly pages and sites. These include domain name selection if appropriate, keyword identification and selection, appropriate title and meta tag development, the incorporation of keywords into page text, identification of linking strategies, and submission of a Google site map. In addition, any web analytics services available through the web host are enabled to allow for analysis and measurement if the client chooses to do so. Following the initial site design, SEO is also offered as a stand alone service, or in conjunction with a web site marketing program. Fees for these services are based either on a package, or on an agreed upon hourly basis.
Web site Marketing
Web site marketing includes additional services such as the development and implementation of plans and strategies which utilize the web site either directly of indirectly for marketing. Examples of these include PPC advertising, email marketing programs, and newsletter development. Fees for these services are based either on a package price, or an agreed upon hourly fee.
Digital Design
The development and design of web sites by its nature involves a substantial amount of digital design which is included in all web designs. In addition, services such as logo design, and the design of collateral marketing materials like business cards, brochures, etc., are offered on a stand alone basis for web design clients. Fees for these services are based primarily on an hourly basis.
Photography and Image Manipulation
Most web site designs require photographic imagery either for conceptual illustration or for illustration of products, physical location, or personnel. To the extent that a project is in need of company specific imagery, Idesignworks will provide the photographic services on an hourly fee or other negotiated basis. Often a project will require the use of stock photographic imagery. In those cases, Idesignworks will facilitate the purchase of stock imagery on the client's behalf and at the client's expense. Any manipulation required to use the imagery is generally included within the scope of the web design process.
